About Us
St Philips Volleyball Club was founded in 1978, by Hamid Sanami, and was the first volleyball club in Cambridge. Originally located in a small sports hall at St. Philips School on Vinery Road, the club outgrew this venue and moved to Hills Road, and then to its current location at Netherhall School.
St. Philips Volleyball Club were pioneers in evolving this sport’s setup within Cambridge and the surrounding areas. They were one of the co-founding members of the Cambridge Volleyball Association (CVA) and were a stepping stone for the creation of other clubs. The club is still active within the CVA, county leagues and other organised competitions.
